Hi All, You can put questions regarding the 4 projects in the comments to this post. I'll also answer them here so you all get the same information. Cheers
It says "students are asked to take the design ideas, optimise and alter them in order to document and fabricate a 1:1 mock-up of the bus stop" for the bus stop of the future. Does it mean that students do not do any further design of the bus stop since it is already designed and students would mainly be using illustrator or other software to document and optimise the space for the sheets that needs to be laser cut later on? And once it's laser cut, we help them in building detail prototypes? If i am wrong, I want to know more about other kind of work we have for this project. Thanks
Hi Alan, the full answer is no, and yes. No more macro design work but, as you can see from the axonometric in the presentation today, there is still a lot of detailed design work to do. For example, how will the pieces fit together? ... with bolts, special connectors, interlocking sheets, or some other way. Optimizing the layout of laser cut parts is one thing, but I wouldn't say it was the major part of the project. You'll have to figure out how the electronics fit into the structure, how it fixes to the pavement, how water can run off the roof so it doesn't leak everywhere, everything to actually build it. pricing and getting quotes for components will also be a part of the project. Cheers
